Let's Journey Together
I have always been told – or at least, in the past six years or so – the good that comes from community with others. While I always understood what was meant by that, I typically avoided it – almost as if it was my natural instinct, even though it was my sinful nature instead, which I let trample the nature that God intended for me.
The thing is, for a while there was this belief somewhere in the back of my head that for the longest time was unnoticed by me. I believed that being alone was in my nature – that God created me this way. I never sought out community, although in my eyes it did not appear that way. I believed in a nature that was created by me, rather than by God.
It took some time for me to realize that there was this lie that was hidden deep within my mind. Eventually, I learned the truth of the nature God created – I was not meant to be outside community! And it was not just my own nature, as well – it was a nature that I shared with everyone on this earth. I found out that there was a desire, deep within my heart, for community with others – that we may grow together, and journey together, in personal relationships with Christ. God created us to desire community, so we should seek out communities that desire the Lord.
Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” My hope is that people will bring community to those around them – a community that supports, encourages, and loves one another, until the last day. We should not get into the habit of neglecting to meet each other! God wants us to be in community with one another – why should neglect that? Jesus is the one whom brings us together, and His Truth is the truth which we should seek out together.
I want to encourage you all – do not get into the habit of avoiding community. Let me tell you, it’s a lonely habit to have. I got into that habit, and was stuck with it for a while; and unfortunately, part of me still gets into that habit.
Being in community is exciting – it is a journey which you get to share with others. This blog is so I can journey with all of you, the readers, towards a personal and deep relationship with Christ. So, let’s journey together, folks, and seek God above all else.
