5 Ways to Pray for Your Future Wife
Men, we are called to be the spiritual leaders of our own households. It is important for us to walk with the Lord so that we may grow in strength and in wisdom. This means that we need to prepare ourselves before we meet our future spouses.
But you may be wondering - why is this important?
Jumping into a relationship without a strong foundation in the Word is not a good idea. We should not jump into a relationship without rooting ourselves, as Jesus calls it, the good soil.
And while we’re preparing ourselves for marriage, we should go ahead and pray for our future wives, because she is just as much a part of a relationship as any of us.
I try to pray for my future wife as much as I can, even though I don’t have any idea who she is. I’m not perfect with this (nobody can be), but I try my best. I want to encourage all of you to pray for your future wives (and ladies, I want to encourage you to pray for your future husbands as well!)
Here are some ways you can pray for your future wife:
1. Pray that she pursues the Lord with all her heart.
Relationship with the Lord is important – more important than any other relationship you will ever have. We live in a world where everything is all about us every second of the day. It is very easy for us to go about the day and then forget about the Lord. Pray that she does not do this. This is most important thing you could pray about for your future wife.
Pray that she pursues the Lord in her words and in her actions, through prayer, quiet time, and worship.
2. Pray that she comes to love God more than she could ever love you.
It is incredibly important that we love God more than anything or anyone else in this world. No man or woman can simultaneously love God and love the world. Of course she should still love you, for love comes directly from God. But that love should be rooted in Christ.
3. Pray that she recognizes her value in the eyes of the Lord.
Pray that God will show her that she is valuable! As a daughter of the King, she was created in His image. Pray that she will remember that. She is just as valuable as you and me, and even though we cannot tell her that, God can!
4. Pray that she lives out her life as a daughter of the King, not as a daughter of the world.
As Christians we are called to be set apart from the world. Pray that your future wife will be reminded that she is not a daughter of this world. We should be in the world, but not be apart of it.
5. Pray that she will pray for you.
Everyone needs prayer. You cannot do anything on our own strength; and, you are someone’s future husband! We cannot grow in our walk with the Lord without reliance on Him and without prayer.
Of course, even if you are already married, you can still pray these things about your wife!
